To conduct this survey, BCG partnered with Potloc, for end-to-end survey support. The team interviewed 2,500 respondents across the globe on their understanding of Web3 and blockchain technologies.

Many respondents were unaware of Web3 technologies beyond broad terms. Those who were aware of these technologies had difficulties defining them, signaling that more education and use cases are needed for large public consumption.

Web3 growth is still low, but there is potential for expansion in the future

Metaverse platforms need to offer high quality experiences (like the ability to take training, spend time with friends, and shop in the metaverse) for wider consumer use.
