LGBT+ Inclusion in the Danish Workplace

Many Danish companies have made a sincere effort to include LGBT+ individuals but there is still work to be done. In this landmark study, BCG works with the survey solutions experts at Potloc to interview 1000 employees on how businesses can better support LGBT+ employees.

Top consulting firm, BCG wanted to gather data-backed insights on how businesses can better support LGBT+ employees. 

To conduct this survey, BCG partnered with Potloc, a leading survey provider. With Potloc’s proprietary sampling technology and in-house team of experts, BCG was able to interview 1,000 Danish workers of various age groups and across different industries.

BCG published their findings into a report on LGBT+ inclusion, raising their profile in the consulting industry, and answering important questions on how business’ policies can shape LGBT+ workplace well-being. 

Key figures from the survey

  • 81%

    of LGBT+ respondents said that they had been either exposed to or witnessed at least one discriminatory situation in the workplace within the last two years.

  • 46%

    of LGBT+ respondents reported that their company was not doing enough topromote inclusion and well-being of LGBT+ individuals.

  • 72%

    of LGBT+ respondents who experienced discriminatory situations reported it had a negative impact on their well-being at work.

Inclusion efforts play a big role in attracting new talent. 1 in 6 LGBT+ respondents between the ages of 18-34 have quit a job, not applied for a job, or rejected a job offer because of lack of LGBT+ support.

Clear anti-discrimination policies are needed to boost the well-being of LGBT+ individuals at work

Most LGBT+ employees agreed that a clear code of conduct for handling discrimination against LGBT+ employees is one of the most impactful initiatives to have in place, but few workplaces have these.
